from a dream to reality...
Many years ago we were introduced to a certain kind of pillow from the Far East which is typical of the ones we are doing today and recognized the opportunity to bring this alternative product to people who could benefit from using something so comforting and therapeutic. We started with a $25 sewing machine and a lot of guts and found ourselves years later in a 3,000 sq ft. factory. Back in the eighties no one ever heard of these buckwheat pillows but slowly they gained the reputation they deserved. We approached the largest Japanese department store in Honolulu and the buyer preferred ours over the over the ones being imported from Japan and the rest is history.
We have always been the innovators and creators of these pillows since 1985 and since then many people have tried to copy and imitate our products but cannot come close to our standards of excellence. The quality of our fabrics is incomparable and the interior of the hulls surpasses other companies doing the same thing because of the processing that ours goes through.
Originally our company was called “Sobagara” a name that is Japanese by description meaning “hulls of the buckwheat” and our company locations have included Hawaii, Healdsburg, CA., Santa Rosa in Northern California and now Walnut Creek which is the East Bay of California.
We have been in newspapers across the country and conducted business internationally with hotels, retail outlets and trade professionals. Through trade shows and many different kinds of exposure we grew over the last 25 – 30 years still maintaining our professional standards of excellence. We take pride in the simplicity of design, our reputation, longevity and dedication of those who have had a long standing run of relationships over many years. Once you compare results, you will see for yourself!
